Yes, it’s true that you can lower your thyroid antibodies and get rid of your Hashimoto’s symptoms. How do I know? I’ve done it for myself and have helped countless clients do the same. I often get messages asking how to do this as if there is a simple one sentence answer. I wish it was that easy. I wish I could say that I cut gluten out of my diet and I was magically healed. However, that’s not the case. Hashimoto’s is a long and complicated journey, but there’s always light at the end of the tunnel when you make the right changes and stick with it.

What I Did to Reverse My Symptoms:

  • First, I invested a huge amount of money into functional medicine practitioners. I spent thousands of dollars over the years. These practitioners ran a variety of labs on me which revealed the true causes of my autoimmune disease symptoms. They revealed gut pathogens, leaky gut, heavy metals, and mold. Once these things were cleared from my system, my hormones were rebalanced, nutrients were restored, and my immune system strengthened. This was the best investment I ever made for my health and it’s the reason I am a functional medicine practitioner now.
  • I used nutrition as medicine and did the Autoimmune Protocol diet (AIP diet) for multiple months. This got rid of most of my symptoms like heart palpitations and digestive distress. Eventually I transitioned into a Paleo diet which has worked wonders for me to maintain my health.   • I stopped overtraining my body. I went from a competitive weight lifter and muay thai kickboxer always pushing my body to the maximum, to taking more rest days and slowing down with workout intensity. I incorporated more slower going activities like yoga and walks over runs. When you have an autoimmune disease there is a delicate balance exercise and managing symptoms.
  • I optimized my circadian rhythm by getting early morning sunshine to my bare eyes and skin, more sunshine throughout the day, and I blocked blue light and bright light a few hours before bedtime. I started sleeping a full 8 hours consistently. I believe that proper sleep and circadian rhythm regulation is one of the most important steps for healing.
  • I healed trauma from physical and emotional abuse. Unprocessed trauma and emotions can trigger dis-ease in the body. If you want to learn more about this concept, I recommend reading the book “The Body Keeps The Score.”

  • I started prioritizing myself. I spent more time and resources on self-care, sleep, nourishment, love, fun, and whatever else I need to feel my best self.
  • Finally, I went back to school to become a functional practitioner after I reversed my Hashimoto’s.
    I decided that I should continue healing myself and then do the same for others. My goal is to give you all a shortcut past the endless doctors visits and jump straight to the healing

I healed my body without taking medication and stayed off of medication for years. I did decide to get on NP Thyroid eventually because there has been a lot of destruction to my thyroid from the years prior. I believe that medication can be helpful in certain cases. If you can save your thyroid before it’s too damaged, you may be able to live without medication.

What Should You Do to Improve Your Health and Reverse Hashimoto's Symptoms?

I believe you should be investing your money in all of these things: healthy foods, a functional practitioner, therapy, and whatever other holistic tools to optimize your health. Why? So that you can stop wasting your money every year at the doctor’s office and on prescription meds. Instead, you can actually get healthy and stay OUT of the doctor’s office. Think of the long term!
